Joe
Spatarella joined Online Banking Solutions (OBS) in 2005 as vice
president of sales and marketing. Spatarella has 32 years of financial
services experience in both the banking and software industries,
specializing in sales, product development, and marketing of cash
management and payment applications. His combination of business and
technology experience brings a unique perspective and depth to
businesses adopting new technologies and delivery channels. Throughout
his career, he has been at the forefront of wholesale electronic
banking and payment developments.
Spatarella’s banking experience spans international and domestic work with global organizations such as Manufacturer’s Hanover (now JPMorgan Chase), Marine Midland Bank (now HSBC), Mellon Bank (now BNY Mellon) and Wells Fargo. Before joining OBS, Spatarella began his career in the early 1980s as a principal of Interactive Technology Corporation (ITC). Spatarella and company founders designed and developed the ACCESS system, which later became the dominant in-house online cash management system and was acquired by DISC, a Baltimore, Md.-based provider of financial software for domestic and international financial institutions and corporations. There, Spatarella held the position of vice president of strategic planning and marketing with a specific emphasis on the development of wholesale electronic banking products. After Stockholder Systems, Inc. (now Checkfree) acquired DISC in 1994, Spatarella founded Electronic Services Management LLC (ESM), an independent provider of consulting, training and software tools for cash and treasury management, where he assisted major institutions with product strategies and implementations of image and Web platforms.
In 1999, Magnet Communications, the developer of the first Web-based cash management system, acquired ESM where Spatarella, as executive vice president of corporate development, led the initial sales, consulting and marketing functions for the company. In 2001, he joined BankServ, a leading provider of electronic payment solutions, as regional sales manager and sold ASP-based payment solutions to the banking and commercial markets.
